Musings

So, Draca updated and finished her fic! And she's already written another fic, too. >.< Well, colour me lazy. I feel guitly now; there she is putting out 10,000 word chapters [or however long they are] each week! And there I am; having not updated in over three months. A distinctly bad habit. I'm not even finished Chapter 3 of Avarice yet, which is so slack.

So, yes. Must make a concerted effort to write more. Avarice is now 6,000 words and I still haven't finished the third chapter; not even close, heh.

Oh! And remind me to write the challenge fics from Qiana. Otherwise she'll have my throat. Though how I write a humerous Oliver/Ginny fic, I'm still not sure;  humour isn't my strong point. *shrugs* I'll find a way, I'm sure. Anyway, I'll stop my yabbering and start writing..

Draca updated her story! Yay! She is my goddess! Although, like I said in the almost in-coherant review, I'm really getting worried. I certianly hope that they defeat Voldemort and such.

And oooh! I completely just finished doing the drawing for Unexpected. It's not brilliant, andI had to dumb down the tattoo a bit because it was too busy, but I'm pretty happy with it.

I finally started chapter three of Avarice, which is good. I'm pretty glad about that, heh.

Anyway, another survey...

My Girl Ginny...

Most Favored Characteristic
~ Innocent/Tricky/Sly
Follows Canon or Fanon? ~ Canon-ish
Likes ~ Harry
But someone else likes her ~ Nope.
In the end she'll end up with ~ Draco
Because ~ She just can't help herself.
She will live ~ As long as I want her to.
She will die because of ~ Whatever I wish.
What else about her? ~ She is sweet, darling, Gryffindor who isn't as sweet as she comes across and who definately has thorns.
That's my girl Ginny.

Pop Quiz!

Was going to go through and bold each of these. Will do it later.

1) Your HP nickname: Catalina Royce
2) Do you write fanfiction: Well that's a no brainer.
3) Draw fanart: Sometimes. Sort of. I'm trying to improve myself, lol.
4) Review much: Rarely. Only Draca's stuff, I think. And the stuff of people I know.
5) Read too many fics: Nope, not really. Too lazy. One-shots mainly, so it goes quickly.
6) Favorite house: Slytherin is good. Well, not in a good way, but in a "Oh-my-god-I-want-to-cover-you-in-jello-then-eat-it-all-off" kind of way..
7) Favorite Gryffindor student: Old gen or new? In the new; Ginny, hands down. In the old; all of the Mauraders, Lily, erm...that's about it.
8) Favorite Slytherin student: Draco Malfoy and Blaise Zabini. < Agreed
9) Favorite Ravenclaw student: I quite like Luna.
10) Favorite Hufflepuff student: Zacharias Smith? Is he Hufflepuff?
11) Favorite teacher: Severus, Umbridge or McGonagall, simply because they're all slightly scary, lol. But in different ways!
12) Favorite overall character: Ginny, hands down. With Draco and Blaise and Tom coming in second.
13) Favorite adult: Remus. It makes me sad to know all his friends are gone.
14) Canon/fanon Draco: Both! Snotty, arrogant, bratty, powerful, hot young men turn me on! *cough*
15) Canon/fanon Snape: Both.
16) Voldemort or Dumbledore: Mm...Dumbledore 'cause I like him, Voldemort's more interesting, though.
17) Cho, annoying or not: Not annoying as such. Except for the crying.

21) Unimpressive ships: *shrug* I only pay attention to the ships I like.

Greed and Fanart

So, I finally started to continue Avarice, after a long period of writer's block. I'd edited it, of course, but it wasn't until I went to England that I did much at all. I added descriptions of some of the characters, and changed some parts to make them less melodramatic, and I've worked on the plot to fill some of those gaping holes that were there before. I only have to write three more chapters, and my little 5 chapter baby is done, and then I'll post it. After it's been beta-ed, of course. I'm really excited about Avarice, because it's probably one of the best things I've written in the HP fandom, or at all, as a matter of fact.

I think when I finish it, I'll probably get really nervous about it, because I've said so much about the fact that I think it's great, but that's just my opinion. What if it isn't any good at all, and I'm just deluding myself?

On another note, Dracademented [Have to get her name one day; feels wierd calling her that] is asking for someone to draw fanart, and I sent out a tentative volunteer. I did do that hand, heh, and I've been drawing since then, which means I should be able to do it. I wish I had a decent paint program again, because then I could actually colour the stupid picture. It looks so good in my sketchbook, but my scanner completely washed the colour out, which sucks. I'd really love to draw a fanart of Ginny's tattoo, with the blades and the infinity and the roses and snakes; be a fantastic picture if it was done correctly...

I'm still working on the Myth of Innocence Alternate Ending. I'm almost finished, I think. The ending is written, but I have to get to the ending, if that makes sense. I should also have some more stuff up on Quiescence soon, I hope. I want to do the Alternate before I put up the extras section.

I keep a list of fanfiction that I want to write, and whenever I get a new idea -- for a one-shot, a full story, a half-story or whatever, I add it to the list to keep track of what I want to write. I re-arrange the list when I feel like writing a story over another, because I work down the list. Unfortunately, at the moment, most of the pieces are one-shots -- about 12 are one shots. But I like them and I think they're good, so that's okay, heh.

Anyway, that's the latest update.

The Prisoner of Azkaban

Warning: Possible Spoilers Ahead

I saw Prisoner of Azkaban today, and I must say that it is the best Harry Potter movie out so far. It's by a new director, Alfonso Cuaron. It's fantastic in my opinion. While there were definate set changes -- they're a lot different to the first to movies -- I didn't particularly see that as a bad thing. The giant clock was a wonderful addition, and the courtyard was fantastic.

At first I wasn't sure about the casting of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black. But he came across as real. Not quite as hot as I imagined Sirius would be -- let's face it, Sirius is sexy -- but Oldman did a good job of characterising Black. I thought that some of the lines were fantastically done, heh. It was really heart wrenching to see some of it.

I'm not sure I agree with the casting of David Thewlis as Lupin, though. Personally, it isn't how I imagine him at all. For one thing, in my mind, Lupin has mid-light brown hair, while Thewlis' was quite dark. He also had a moustache, which I didn't like. Not a big one, but there was one. I didn't much imagine his voice like that either, but it was well done. The bridge scene was fantastic -- one could really feel the emotion that Lupin was describing.

They really took some liberties with the script this time. It was a lot more daring than the last films in the fact that it swapped and changed, and added more in. For instance the bridge scene definately added another dimension to Lupin's character that isn't in the books, and I think perhaps this is the foreshadowing that Rowling talks about...?

Of course, as a part-time R/Hr shipper, I loved the inferences in there. The hand grab, and the way she turns to him when Buckbeak 'dies' is all really well done. Sometimes I get quite worried that it will turn out to be Harry/Hermione in the books, but I honestly don't think it will. I think Harry doesn't see her as a girl enough for him to develop feelings for her, where Ron and Hermione both sort of click very well. But that's just my thoughts, heh.

The only part I didn't really like was the beginning, because I felt that it didn't really portray the emotions very well. It jumped a lot, and it didn't emphasise the importance of Harry not losing his temper -- thus keeping it bottled up, the reason he ended up...you know...blowing up Aunt Marge.

Other than that, I thought the movie was fantastic. Well done to all the cast and crew members, heh. I'm definately going to buy these ones, and I hope that the next film is just as good.

This Journal will hopefully work in conjunction with everything else. It's going to be HP related only, which should make it easy -- I know there are several Harry Potter posts that I wanted to put somewhere and didn't know where!
